Hands On Feet

About Reflexology

Reflexology is the ancient method of promoting good health by working pressure points on the feet, hands and ears that correspond to different organs, glands or structures of the body.

ORIGINS

Modern reflexology was pioneered in the 1930s by Eunice Ingham who, using ‘zone therapy’ showed that the reflexes on the feet were an exact mirror image of the whole body.

HOW IT WORKS

Reflexologists believe that when the body is ill, injured or stressed, vital energy pathways are blocked preventing it from functioning optimally. Reflexology is thought to help unblock these pathways by ridding the body of toxins and improving circulation.

Many GPs now refer patients for reflexology as a complement to conventional medicine.

HOW REFLEXOLOGY MAY HELP YOU

As reflexology is holistic, addressing the whole body rather than individual symptoms, most people benefit. It is suitable for people of all ages, from tiny babies to the elderly. For each person the effects of the therapy are unique, however most find it supremely relaxing. If you are struggling with minor health problems, it may be that a calming and relaxing session of reflexology may help you

Additionally, many people value reflexology as a way of pampering themselves – an antidote to the strains of modern living.
